It's not everyday that Hot 97 plays an unsigned artist music strictly off the strength of his skills. This was the case with Kingsbridge Hip-Hop artist Expo. A student from the golden era of Hip-Hop, Expo honed his skills in the same neighborhood as Camp Lo and Kid Capri (amongst many others). Recently Yaheard.com caught up with Expo, while he made a cameo in the upcoming 49ers video "Reminisce" which features his friend and mentor Bronx rapper Tribeca. Tell us about where you're from and how you got to this position today? I Was Born In The Bronx I got to this position 2day by believing in my self and by the backing of Great People. What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see from you? Currently I'm working on Vol.2 to my mix tape Entitled "Just In Time". Tri-Beca. Tell us about one of the hardest challenges up incoming artists face in the industry? I think one of the hardest challenges for up incoming artists is getting through all the obstacles to get to the front of the line, have your music heard and hopefully appreciated by others. What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back? One Of The Biggest Set Back Was Failing Out Of College My Sophomore Year at Five Towns College. I Bounced Back Threw The Grace Of God And Good Friends and Family. Tell us something about your self that no one knows. I Grew Up On The Same Block As The Coolest and Most Original Rap Group Camp Lo, I Recorded My First Record In there Home Studio With My Long Time Great Friend And Mentor Anson Richardson Aka Tri-Beca.
